Jackson & Coil

The team — Jackson & Coil

Five people.
One curl spectrum.

Every stylist here trained somewhere real. Every stylist here cuts the full curl spectrum. But each one has a chair they own — a pattern, a technique, a register they go deeper on than anyone else in the room.

Pick the stylist by their work — not by who's free Tuesday at four. (Though we make that easy too.)

Every curl pattern is the same job done with knowledge. The hair tells you the shape — you just have to know how to look.

Vanessa Jackson

Founder & senior stylist

Trained
Trained at Curl Bar London under Michelle Sultan, 2014. Devachan NYC, 2018. A season with Anthony Dickey at Hair Rules.
Specialty
Type 2A through 4C. Dry-cutting, curl-safe color, and the education side of every appointment.
Stylist portrait — Type 3b curls

I listen to the curl before I touch it. Most of what goes wrong in a chair happens before the scissors are even open.

Nia Berhane

Senior stylist

Trained
Norwegian-Eritrean. Two years assisting at Hare & Bone, London. Curly Hair Artistry programme, 2022.
Specialty
Type 3 spiral and ringlet patterns. Definition without crunch. Day-three hair you still recognise.

A fade is architecture. The taper is the line, the coil is the volume — get the geometry right and the rest takes care of itself.

Adé Okonkwo

Barber-stylist — men's specialist

Trained
Trained at Hawthorne, NYC. Nine years inside the Tøyen barber tradition before that. The hands behind the Sculpt Cut.
Specialty
The Sculpt Cut. Fades, tapers, lineups, and dry coil shaping in the same chair. Beard work shaped to the jaw.

Healthy hair starts at the scalp. We can talk about shape and definition all day, but if the foundation isn't right, none of it lasts.

Mira Dahir

Senior stylist — locs and protective styles

Trained
Somali-Norwegian. Ran her own chair in Tøyen for six years. Trichology certificate, 2023.
Specialty
Type 4. Loc maintenance, retwists, protective styles, scalp health. Long appointments done properly, not rushed.
Stylist portrait — Type 3a curl specialist
05 / 05
I was the wavy girl who got told her hair was frizzy for twenty years. Half my job is unlearning what someone else taught the client about their own head.

Inés Lindberg

Stylist

Trained
Norwegian. Trained at Bouclème, London. Curly Hair Artistry advanced, 2023.
Specialty
Type 2 and looser Type 3. Wave-friendly cuts, face-framing layers, the first-time-curly-method client.

What every chair here shares.

  • 01We cut your hair dry, on its natural pattern. Always. Wet-cutting hides the shape — we'd rather see it.
  • 02First visit always includes a free 15-minute dry consultation. No upsell, no pressure, no surprises on the bill.
  • 03Every appointment ends with a short education. You leave knowing what was done and why — and how to do it at home.
